Potential Storm Moratorium Bulletin

Hurricane season officially commenced on June 1, 2026.
Binding moratoriums may be instituted as a result of storm activity.

When put in place, binding moratoriums apply to new business, increases in coverage, and renewal business with a lapse in coverage when a potentially catastrophic or named storm is threatening to make landfall in the United States. Carrier guidelines vary. Therefore, it’s important to note that some carriers may enact a moratorium sooner than others.

Please be aware that bind orders and change requests may not be honored when a moratorium is in effect.

Moratoriums apply to all classes of property, including, but not limited to, Commercial Property, Commercial Package, Inland Marine, Automobile Physical Damage, Flood, and Excess Flood, Homeowners, Dwelling Fire, and Condo Unit Owner. Restrictions may apply even if an official moratorium notice has not been produced by an insurance carrier, MGA, or received by the producer/agent. Restrictions will be lifted at individual company discretion.
